If you asked someone a question or asked someone for help, and someone spoke back to you or helped you, you would thank them right? Or maybe even continue the conversation?

It’s the same with your blog but it’s a simple part of social engagement that’s missed by a lot of bloggers as well.

I always try to acknowledge everyone who leaves a comment on any of my blog posts – whether that comment is good or bad. If nothing else, it’s polite.

But if you have engaged someone enough to want to comment on your work, why not capitalise on that investment and encourage them to comment again, and again? The other thing is that an ongoing and interesting conversation – even in the comments of a blog post – is something that engages casual readers of your blog too – it’s a free hit.

But is it something that you do?
